Many Cincinnati neighborhoods are rapidly changing as a result of outside investment in development projects receiving significant taxpayer-funded city incentives. As current residents and community organizations confront these changes on behalf of their neighborhoods, they often face a steep learning curve. City zoning processes, phases of real estate development, tax incentive systems, requirements for city approvals, and residents’ own opportunities to engage with developers are often new topics, each with their own new terms and technical requirements.
Most neighborhood stakeholders are volunteers with limited time to devote to these projects, so to shorten their learning curve, the Northside Community Council (NCC) commissioned a series of one-page guides on various aspects of the development process. Action Tank partnered with local artist TENZING to bring the guides to life.
